From Evidence to Action
At VIASTOP, research is closely connected to practice. Our work with victims and survivors, people who use violence, professionals and institutions provides insight into how violence occurs, how systems respond, and where gaps in prevention and protection remain.
We combine applied research, practice-based evidence and multidisciplinary expertise to develop, implement and evaluate programmes addressing domestic and gender-based violence, victim protection, perpetrator intervention, risk assessment, equality and human rights.
Through national and European collaborations, we connect local experience with international knowledge, transforming research findings into practical tools, professional training, improved interventions and policy recommendations.

Our Research Approach
Our research is grounded in the realities encountered through frontline practice. We work with academic institutions, public authorities, civil society organisations and European networks to investigate emerging needs, evaluate interventions and contribute to evidence-informed responses to violence.
Particular areas of interest include domestic and intimate partner violence, gender-based violence, coercive control, femicide and lethal violence, risk assessment and management,
perpetrator intervention, victim experiences, child safeguarding, sexual violence, workplace harassment, discrimination and substantive equality.
Programmes That Put Evidence Into Practice
VIASTOP participates in and develops programmes that turn knowledge into action. Our projects combine research with prevention, direct support, professional capacity-building, intervention development, advocacy and institutional cooperation.
The aim is not simply to produce knowledge, but to ensure that knowledge leads to better services, safer communities and stronger systems for preventing and responding to violence.
